With an education focused on sustainability, horticulture, and business, along with Cornell’s Cannabis course – one of the first in the U.S. in the wake of decriminalization, he became well-versed in the potential of the plant from various aspects. As fate would have it, when Cannabis became decriminalized in Thailand, a spark ignited within him.   • Energy:
    • Indoor grows are known for their high electricity consumption, contributing to fossil fuel usage and climate change. Our farm is primarily powered by solar panels covering our rooftop. This not only significantly reduces power costs but also allows us to indirectly harness the sun’s energy while maintaining control over the growing environment.
  • Water:
    • We utilize local Phuketian groundwater, which undergoes pre-treatment to achieve the right nutrient balance and pH before irrigation. This ensures that our plants capture the essence, or “terroir,” of Phuket.
  • Growing Medium: We use premium Coco Peat, an abundant byproduct of the coconut industry, sourced from our partners right here in Southern Thailand.
  • Runoff:
    • Hydroponic systems undeniably produce nutrient-rich excess runoff, which can harm the local ecosystem if improperly disposed of. We responsibly store our excess runoff, treat it, and use it for our outdoor breeding programs. This approach ensures that excess nutrients are not wasted while also preventing local bacterial and algal blooms.
  • Packaging: 
    • The cannabis industry often relies on plastic packaging, which can ultimately end up in our oceans. Here at The Emerald Club, we are committed to using biodegradable materials such as craft paper or cardboard to minimize plastic waste.
